Car Wash Operation Prosecutors Presents Documents Contradicting Lula's Deposition to Judge Moro

Prosecutors in the Car Wash Operation (Lava Jato) presented documents that contradict former president Lula's address to Judge Sergio Moro a week ago.

Lula declared that a president of the Republic "has no specific meeting with the director" of Petrobras and mentioned two exceptions during his government.

The Prosecution Office, however, has attached to the process appointment books that show at least 23 meetings and trips of Lula with directors of the state-run oil company.

The number refers to the two terms of the former president and includes events with the participation of Paulo Roberto Costa, Renato Duque and Jorge Zelada - all convicted in cases related to the corruption scheme at Petrobras. Costa appears in seven entries.

The documents were supplied by Petrobras, which assists the prosecution in the trial of the triplex apartment in Guarujá, city in coast of São Paulo.

The Prosecutor Office's action is part of the strategy of claiming that the construction company OAS paid bribes to the former president, including the triplex, in exchange for benefits at the state-owned company.

Léo Pinheiro, a partner in the company, also provided appointments with the former president. Lula did not answer *Folha*´s questions about the documents. His defense has been stating that there is no evidence linking him to corruption cases.
