The Brazilian Armed Forces are the most trusted institution in the country today, while Congress, the presidential administration, and political parties have lost credibility.
A Datafolha survey reveals that 40% of the population has great confidence in the Armed Forces while 43% expressed some confidence. Another 15% has no confidence in the Armed Forces and 2% was undecided.
The results were echoed more by men (49%) than women (31%), among the wealthiest (47%) and among those who voted for congressman Jair Bolsonaro (58%).
The potential presidential candidate already informed Folha that, if elected, half of his administration would be career officers.
The presidency's credibility has been on the decline since 2012. In August of that year, 33% said they had great confidence in the administration, 52% reported some confidence, and 15% reported no confidence. Today, 3% said they have great confidence in the institution, 31% reported some confidence and 65% reported no confidence.
Today, only 2 % of the population reported great confidence in political parties; 28% reported some confidence and 69% reported no confidence in the parties.
According to Datafolha, Brazilians report that the press is the country's second most reliable institution: 22% said they have great confidence in the press, 49% reported some confidence and 28% reported no confidence whatsoever in the institution.
