FROM BRASÍLIA
President Michel Temer, 77, was hospitalized in Brasilia on Wednesday (the 25th) after feeling ill.
The president's press office issued a brief note stating that Temer "felt a discomfort during the late morning and saw a doctor at the medical office of the Planalto Palace [the official workplace of the president]".
"The doctor on duty noticed an obstruction of the urinary tract and recommended that he be evaluated at the Army Hospital, where he is currently undergoing an exam and following the due course of treatment", the statement read.
Folha has learned that, after undergoing urological exams, the president was subjected to a procedure to relieve the obstruction of the urinary tract.
The procedure is unrelated to the partial obstruction of a coronary artery that came up in Temer's medical exams two weeks ago.
The lower house of Congress will be in session on Wednesday to decide whether or not to proceed with charges against Temer.
However, the president's governing coalition has not yet managed to reach a quorum for the vote.
At least 342 congressmen are required in the lower house in order to begin the vote.
