A new Datafolha survey shows that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT - Workers' Party ) strengthened his lead while Congressman Jair Bolsonaro (PSC - Social Christian Party) stands alone in second place in the Brazilian presidential run.
The numbers were disclosed at a moment when the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) is trying to promote to São Paulo's Governor Geraldo Alckmin as a centrist candidate to run for president in 2018 as a counterpoint to the extreme left and right - respectively Lula and Bolsonaro.
Datafolha interviewed 2,765 Brazilians between November 29 and 30 in 192 cities. The survey has a margin of error of two percent.

Gov. Alckmin currently occupies the fourth position in the survey as he is tied with former governor Ciro Gomes (PDT - Partido Democrático Trabalhista) - both have 6%.
Lula leads with 34% while Bolsonaro continues with 17%. With 9%, Marina Silva (Rede) is above the group led by Alckmin and Gomes; however, considering the margin of error, she is tied with both.
Lula would win in any second round scenario. He increased his advantage by four percent in comparison to the last survey, held at the end of September: he would win in the disputes against Alckmin (52% to 30%), Marina Silva (48% to 35%) and Bolsonaro (51% to 33%). Alckimn would have a technical tie with Ciro Gomes (35% to 33%), and Marina Silva would win a dispute against Bolsonaro (46% to 32%).
However, Lula's candidacy could be barred as the second instance trial of his conviction for corruption in the case of the apartment in Guarujá is scheduled - Lula was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison.
