Brazilian presidential candidate, Jair Bolsonaro (PSC-RJ), has been using funds from the lower house of congress to employ a neighbor, in a district 50 km away from the center of Angra Dos Reis (RJ).
The employee sells açaí at the same street where Bolsonaro's summer house is, in small Mambucaba Village (RJ).
According to locals, Wal, as she is called, also provides private services in Bolsonaro's house, but her main activity is selling her "Wal Açaí". Her husband, Edenilson, also according to locals, is the caretaker of the congressman's house.
Walderice Santos da Conceição, 49, has been listed as one of the 14 employees of Bolsonaro's parliamentary office, in Brasília, since 2003, and she currently receives a gross salary of R$ 1,351.46 (US$ 420).
Official records of the lower house of congress show that Bolsonaro's parliamentary secretary has had several different positions in his office, in the last 15 years - more than 30.
Congressman Jair Bolsonaro denies having used money from the lower house of congress to pay for services in his house and that Walderice is a ghost employee.
When asked about her work, Bolsonaro replied: "She reports any issues in the area to me or to my chief of staff".
"It is not something constant. Does she spend all her time on the streets? No. She reads newspapers, she is up to speed with events".
Folha asked the presidential candidate for an example of parliamentary services provided by the employee.
"Wait a minute, she speaks with the chief of staff", he said.
