FROM SÃO PAULO

Folha launched its revamped digital version on Thursday (1st). The evolution of the platform is the first milestone to celebrate the newspaper's 97th anniversary this month.

The changes are not only visual, but also technical.

The site is now fully responsive, that is, it automatically adapts to screens of various sizes and formats, such as mobile devices, computers and tablets.

It also loads faster and consumes less data on mobile devices, enabling real time updates platform-wide.

These changes provide readers with cleaner layout and larger and exclusive font sizes, designed for Folha, to be used on different screens.

In addition to larger font types, which makes for a more comfortable reading experience, pictures, videos and infographics are also enlarged in articles and main pages.

A visual revamping of the printed version of the newspaper is also in the making, which should be implemented in coming months, so that the newspaper's identity may be recognized anywhere.

Designers, journalists and IT staff all collaborated in order to arrive at the visual innovations contained in Folha's Editorial Project so as to guarantee that the newspaper's identity prevails regardless of the platform.

"Folha readers are becoming more and more capable of recognizing the newspaper regardless of the platform", said executive editor Sergio Dávila.

ACCESSIBILITY

The new website was designed, from its source code to every detail, to be more accessible for visually impaired users.

The IT team took a course in order to develop a project that is more user-friendly for the blind and people with other visual impairments who use special kinds of software.

Black and white color contrast configurations of fonts, for example, have been tested so that navigating the site is as convenient as possible.

Photographs, on the other hand, include textual descriptions so that those with visual impairments can understand the content. The "Listen to text" feature has been adapted so that it can also be used on mobile devices.

WELL-ORGANIZED

It is now easier to navigate through Folha's most common sections, columnists and bloggers.

EASIER TO SHARE

It is now easier to publish content on your social media profiles and send it to friends via text or email.

MORE ILLUSTRATIVE

Larger photos in articles and on front pages. Videos and infographics are more prominent.

Prominently featured multimedia content on the home page, making it easier to access TV Folha content as well as photo galleries.

GREATER AGILITY

Folha content is now more responsive and simultaneously available on all platforms, not to mention faster loading and lower data consumption.

MORE ACCESSIBLE

Larger and more legible font; color and contrast configurations tested to facilitate navigation for those who are visually impaired; more inclusive navigation and descriptions making photos more accessible.

MORE DISTINCT

Exclusive font designed for Folha and especially configured for screens.
