TV Presenter Luciano Huck to Announce if Running for President After Carnival

Brazilian network Rede Globo's presenter, Luciano Huck, will make a decision regarding a possible Presidential candidacy after Carnival.

That was the deadline agreed with his employer, which gave him an ultimatum on Wednesday (7), in order for him to decide whether he will be running for President or not.

The television network wants to dissociate its name from a possible candidacy. An interview Huck gave on TV in January resulted in a formal explanation by him and Rede Globo network to the Superior Electoral Court, in order to deny an early campaign.

PSDB STYLE

On the eve of Luciano Huck's decision about becoming a possible Presidential candidate, former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso stated the presenter has his party's style, PSDB.

"He has always been very close to PSDB, that's his style. He's a good guy," stated Fernando Henrique Cardoso, who has been Huck's informal godfather since last year. He denied, however, discussions about Huck joining PSDB.

"I don't know if that would be political. I don't know if it would be worth it for him. My candidate is Geraldo Alckmin," said Cardoso, in reference to the governor of São Paulo.

On Thursday (8), during an event in São Paulo, Alckmin said that the former president and Huck are personal friends, and that his esteem for Huck is normal.

However, Cardoso's favorable statements towards Huck have been causing a stir for the governor's team since last year.
