TV Presenter Luciano Huck confirmed he will not run for President this year, as previously stated in an article published by Folha in November. He will make the announcement on Friday (16th).

In the past few weeks, the conviction of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for corruption in the appeals court and his ineligibility, put the name of Rede Globo's presenter back in the game.

The analysis of voter profile numbers conducted by his strategists showed considerable potential for Huck to gain the votes of those who intended to vote for Lula.

Additionally, the deficient performance of the presidential race and several issues regarding the pre-campaign of candidate Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB), resulted in renewed speculation by some of Alckmin's allies related to their support to Huck.

Before Carnival, the presenter had conducted a new round of meetings with his advisors, particularly former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB), intellectual mentor of Luciano Huck's possible candidacy.

It has been reported that Rede Globo - which had been pressuring the presenter into making a decision - was pivotal in his decision. A near future can land Huck's show in the space now occupied on Sundays by Fausto Silva, the highest salary of free-to-air TV.

If Huck decided to run for president, his wife, presenter Angélica, would also be forced to leave the TV network.

Finally, the scrutiny Huck would be subjected to also contributed to his decision.
