Embraer to Sell 40 Jets to US Airline SkyWest for US$ 1.7 billion

Brazilian manufacturer Embraer announced Tuesday (21) reaching a deal to sell 40 E175 regional jets to with US airline SkyWest. The order is valued for nearly US$ 1.7 billion and will be delivered in the second quarter this year.

In a deal considered by the Brazilian manufacturer as "one of the most important in the history of the two companies," SkyWest signed a contract that could include 60 more jets of the same model yet to be confirmed.

This may increase the company strong orders to 100 and the deal value to up to US$ 4.1 billion, according to list prices. Each E175 aircraft is priced at US$ 41.7 million.

SkyWest agreement also includes an option for additional one hundred aircrafts of the same model, with the potential to increase to 200 aircrafts valued in US$ 8.3 billion, the company, the largest regional American airline in the world, said.

According to Embraer, the delivery of the first jet, with capacity for 76 seats, to SkyWest is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.

The new order announced Tuesday increases the total of orders received by Embraer E175 model in 2013 to 117. In January, the Brazilian manufacturer announced the sale of 47 jets to another American company, Republic Airways.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Brazilian manufacturer also announced the sale of a business jet of large capacity, Linage 1000, to a customer in Belgium, and its delivery is scheduled for the second half of this year.
