The German market research institute GFK published figures on Thursday regarding the Brazilian videogames market, at a conference in São Paulo. The city is due to host the videogames fair Brazil Game Show, starting on Friday.
According to GFK's Oliver Romerscheidt, trends for Brazil are contrary to those for the rest of the world. 'Despite high prices, the Brazilian market continues to grow, whilst figures are negative for almost all of Europe. Brazil is the goose that lays the golden eggs,' he said.
According to the institute, the Brazilian videogames market is now worth more than those of the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain respectively. Of all the European countries, only France remains ahead.
GFK also revealed that videogame sales increased 25% from 2012 to 2013. The preferred genres of Brazilian gamers are adventure, sports (principally football games) and shooting games.
