Four international consumer markets for Brazilian meat (The European Union, China, South Korea and Chile) have decided to adopt restrictions on the importation of products after the Carne Fraca (Poor Meat) Operation.
After the announcement, the Agricultural Ministry suspended the exportation licenses of 21 meatpacking plants under investigation - which account for 0,4% of the 4.837 total number of installations in the country.
For now, they can continue to commercialize their production in the domestic market.
The government will hold talks with these countries to try to keep the boycott from affecting plants that aren't involved.
The Federal Police offensive has been the subject of criticism in the sector and by the government itself, who said that errors were committed in the investigation.
Members of the Poor Meat Operation declared, however, that a lot of their material is being maintained in secret and that they are awaiting new developments in the case.
