The agricultural inspector Daniel Gonçalves Filho, who was imprisoned for more than 20 days in the Operation Weak Flesh and appointed as leader of a corruption scheme in the meat inspection, decided to take a plea bargain with the Federal Prosecution Office.
At the end of last week, Gonçalves Filho had already been transferred to the headquarters of the Federal Police, where are the prisoners who negotiate or who have already concluded agreements with the Justice.
If the agreement is made, he will be the first person being investigated to take a plea bargain after the outbreak of the first phase of the investigation Weak Flesh, on March 17.
People involved in the investigation expect the inspector to give important names of the PMDB (Party of the Brazilian Democratic Movement, in its Portuguese acronym) linked to agribusiness and businessmen of the sector.
In Paraná, Gonçalves Filho was known as one of the main collectors of the party. There was no meeting between him and the prosecutors, Folha has learnt.
Jorge Vicente Silva, the inspector´s attorney, said he has no information on the plea bargain negotiation.
NOMINATION
Ronaldo Sousa Troncha, former aide to federal deputy Sérgio Souza (PMDB-PR), told the Federal Police that the Justice Minister, Osmar Serraglio, also of the PMDB in Paraná, was part of the group of deputies that took part in the nomination of Gonçaves Filho to the post of superintendent in the State.
Gonçalves Filho was appointed in 2007 and resigned in 2016. At the time of his appointment, Serraglio was a federal deputy.
