FROM SÃO PAULO
Brazilians are less pessimistic regarding their own economic circumstances as well as the country's, compared to expectations measured in December 2016.
Datafolha opinion research shows a fall of 10 percentage points, from 41% to 31% in the percentage of those who expect the Brazilian economy to worsen.
Those with expectations for improvement increased from 28% to 31%.
The survey also revealed a reduction, from 27% to 18%, in the percentage of those who believe that their personal circumstances will get worse.
The share of those who believe that things will get better increased from 37% to 45%.
Other expectations also showed improvements including indices of pessimism regarding inflation (56% still expect prices to rise, compared to 66% in December) and unemployment (57% expect it to get worse, compared to 67% previously).
There have never been, however, higher indices recorded by Datafolha of people who are more ashamed than proud of being Brazilian. 34% report that they feel ashamed.
Datafolha interviewed 2.781 people in 172 municipalities between the 26th and 27th of April. The margin of error in the research is 2 percentage points plus or minus.
