Furious 7 has grossed US$ 36.9 million in Brazil over the weekend of its premiere, breaking previous box office records. It is the last film of the Fast & Furious series to feature actor Paul Walker, who died with the film only half-finished and had to be digitally recreated for certain scenes.

According to the website Filme B, 2.3 million people saw Furious from Thursday (2) to Sunday (5). Cinderella, which had been top of the film charts the previous week, had grossed R$11.9 million (US$3.8 million).

According to Filme B, which collects data on the cinema market in Brazil, "a premiere performance like this one had never been recorded." The average crowd per screening, of 2068 people, is something "decidedly out of the ordinary."

Worldwide, Furious 7 has already enjoyed one of the most successful premieres in history, and has set new records for April, a month usually weak for blockbusters. The film has grossed $384 million, four times more than the previous record holder Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which grossed $95 million during its premiere on the same weekend last year.

The next film in the series is already being discussed in Hollywood. In an interview on the TV program Jimmy Kimmel Live!, actor Vin Diesel revealed that Fast and Furious 8 is likely to be set in New York.

The presence of Paul Walker in the film has also generated discussion on social networks. Fans have written that the final sequences in the film - a kind of tribute to Walker - moved them to tears. Walker died in a car crash in 2013.
