The scarcity of water in the taps and the possibility of a more drastic rationing caused a small turnaround in trade in Greater São Paulo.
Everything related to an increase in demand for products related to the water crisis, even the price of mineral water has drastically increased.
Water tanks have sold out and traders from other areas have started selling buckets and gallons.
An example is Adriano Rocha, 30, who owns a shop that sells flip flops, shorts and T-shirts in Greater São Paulo.
With the crisis, he also went on to sell water drums a week ago.
"We have to take advantage of the situation. People find it expensive today, but I know they will buy when the crisis hit", he said. With tap and capacity to hold 200 liters, he sells each plastic shell for US$ 96.
Even the traditional clothing stores and home appliances of Valtier Avenue in Pari (center), have also joined the "trend" and started selling drums and buckets.
The owner of a housewares store Clayton Siqueira, 32, who started selling buckets a week ago, is looking into selling gallons of water.
"I started selling [buckets] because it has become a trend in the region. There were even queues these days", Siqueira said.
