In the last two years, 24 of the 96 districts in the São Paulo capital registered epidemic data for Dengue. The scene is expected to repeat once again in the coming months.

In areas such as Rio Pequeno (in the west zone) the Dengue epidemic has become an end of summer routine.

The capital's technicians are using the map of the illness created in previous years as a base.

Last year, the number of cases of the illness reached 1.958 and 3.600, respectively, in both districts, for every 100 thousand inhabitants.

To give you an idea, when there are more than 300 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, the picture is considered an epidemic.

In an attempt to win the battle against the Dengue mosquito, the municipal secretary Alexandre Padilha (Health) said that the capital's technicians are using the map of the illness created in previous years as a base, an important measure according to the specialists.

The plan is to visit those who had Dengue in the last year, to know if, now, they are more concerned and interested in preventing the accumulation of water inside the home.

Studies show that the Aedes aegypti mosquito tends to fly up to 200 meters away from where it was born. The majority of breeding grounds, which can even be bottle caps, are in the backyard.
