SALVADOR
Prohibited from entering the stadiums with food, fans wanting to eat or drink during the Confederations Cup games will pay R$ 6 (US$ 2.79) for a bottle of water, R$ 8 (US$ 3.72) for a hot dog and R$ 12 (US$ 5.58) for a beer.
Folha confirmed with FIFA that the menu will be standard at the six venues of the event. The only difference will be given to "typical food", as with 'acarajé', 'feijão tropeiro' and 'bolo de rolo'.
McDonald's, official sponsor of the event, will not sell inside the stadiums.
Budweiser, another partner of FIFA, will have "competition" from a national brand: Brahma. They, however, are part of the same beverage group, AmBev.
Garoto, from Nestlé, will offer two options of chocolate, R$ 7 (US$ 3.25) and four ice cream types with values not yet confirmed.
'Acarajé' with shrimp will cost R$ 8 (US$ 3.72) in Salvador and 'bolo de rolo' will cost R$ 5 (US$ 2.32) in Recife and Fortaleza, the same price of a "biscoito de polvilho" in Rio de Janeiro. In the Fonte Nova stadium, water was sold at R$ 2 (US$ 0.93) and will now cost three times as much.
Aramark and Convivas Brazil are the concessionaires responsible for selling food. They were chosen by FIFA in a bid with other 17 interested companies, FIFA says.
The first is the world leader in food services at stadiums acting in the 2006 World Cup, in Germany, as well as in the Beijing and London Olympics. Convivas is the national arm of a company based in Switzerland that participated in the 2010 World Cup.
