Folha Launches a Virtual Reality App Featuring a Video about São Paulo

FROM SÃO PAULO

The first film in Folha 360º, a virtual reality application launched by Folha on Tuesday (7), takes you on a virtual reality tour through the city of São Paulo, onboard a motorcyclist. Access is free.

VR (or "virtual reality") enables viewers to have dense and highly interactive experiences from a 360º perspective.

There are two different ways you can view the video once you have opened the app.

You can either use a virtual reality headset (just click on the icon on the top righthand corner of the initial page), which will provide a greater sense of immersion, or you can view it directly on your cell phone screen once the video has been downloaded.

The trip portrayed in the video "São Paulo from one extreme to the other" begins in Parelheiros, the city's southernmost district, and ends in Horto Florestal, a tree-filled region in the city's northern district.

In between you get to visit some of the state capital's most famous spots, such as Paulista Avenue and Oscar Freire.

The trip is narrated by Kleber Atalla, a youtuber who is also known as "Tiozão da Hornet".

Folha also released a making-of so viewers can get to know a little more about their tour guide and what went on behind the scenes.

The video, which is approximately 9 minutes long, can also be viewed in three separate parts if the viewer wishes to do so.

It was directed by Tadeu Jungle, who works at the "Academia de Filmes" production company and released "River of Mud", another VR film about the ecological disaster in Mariana (in the state of Minas Gerais) and the trail of destruction that spread across the Doce River valley.

In order to download the app, just open the App Store on your iphone and search for Folha 360 (compatible with iphone devices 5c and up), or Google Play on your android (as long as it has a gyroscope for VR).

Four other VR videos can be viewed on the app besides "São Paulo from one extreme to the other".

They are: a tour around the Interlagos race track in São Paulo; a stroll around Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro; a trip to the Christ the Redeemer statue; and a tour of a rare modernist mansion in the Pacaembu neighborhood which is for sale in São Paulo for R$ 3.6 million (US$ 1.15 million).
