On Thursday, March (9), Brazil's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aloysio Nunes, said in Buenos Aires that Argentina's complaint regarding the authorization for British aircrafts to land in Brazilian airports on their way to the Falkland Islands "is not a crisis."
Chancellor Nunes added that the procedures that allowed the aircrafts to land are being reevaluated and that the criteria used so far to allow landing have been "humanitarian."
Earlier, Argentine Chancellor Susana Malcorra had said that "our complaint [regarding the authorization for landing] does exist" and that Argentina is waiting for Brazil's reply.
Nunes began his trip abroad with a meeting with his Argentine colleague. Later they met with the chancellors of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, and of Paraguay, Eladio Loizaga. The chancellors said that the focus of their meeting was to speed up agreement negotiations of Mercosur with the European Union.
"We want to make this agreement advance, as there is much interest on their side," said Nunes.
