Supreme Court Justice Promises to Cooperate with Bolsonaro, but Says He Will Not 'Tolerate the Intolerant'

Fachin who will command TSE says he will promote dialogue and that he expects reciprocity from the President of the Republic

The future president of the Superior Electoral Court, Supreme Court Justice Edson Fachin, says that he will have a collaborative stance and dialogue with the president. The justice, who is at the center of criticism by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), affirmed that he will adopt measures if the Electoral Justice is attacked. "As president of the Superior Electoral Court, we will not tolerate the intolerant. But for now, I have an outstretched hand and I expect reciprocity," said the minister, in an interview with Folha.

Fachin takes over on the 22nd, replacing Luís Roberto Barroso, both members of the Supreme Court. In a transition meeting on Tuesday (15), the minister said that there were risks of attacks on TSE systems coming from Russia — where the President of the Republic was traveling. In an interview with Jovem Pan, Bolsonaro said that Fachin's speech was regrettable and "fake news." The minister says he understands the president's speech as a political narrative and says he mentioned Russia because it is a real example.
