The Legislative Assembly of São Paulo unanimously decided to impeach former deputy Arthur do Val (União Brasil). The decision was taken in a vote in plenary on Tuesday afternoon (17). As a result, he loses his political rights and is ineligible to run for office under the Clean Record Law for eight years.

There were 73 votes in favor of the impeachment proposed by the Alesp Parliamentary Ethics and Decorum Council — and none against.

In a note, the former deputy's assistant states that "the decision of the Alesp plenary makes it clear that a persecution was promoted against Arthur do Val and that the main reason was not his mandate, which he has already resigned, but he will withdraw him from the electoral dispute".

Arthur do Val was the target of 21 complaints in the ethics committee of the São Paulo Legislature because of his sexist speeches about Ukrainians. The messages were sent to a WhatsApp group during a trip to Ukraine in March. The messages ended up leaking and generating great repercussions.
