The main political fact of the year so far, the coup-plotting attack on the headquarters of the Three Powers on January 8 has had Jair Bolsonaro (PL) held responsible, at least to some degree, by 58% of Brazilian voters. Of these, 32% see the ex-president as very guilty, and 26%, only a little.

According to a Datafolha survey, another 39% do not see the politician as to blame for the acts he encouraged, and 3% did not know how to respond. The institute polled 2,028 voters in 126 cities on March 29 and 30. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.

The act in Brasilia was undertaken by Bolsonaro supporters who did not accept their candidate's defeat for Lula (PT). The former president was in Florida at the time, where he returned from last week.

The episode resulted in the largest collective arrest in Brazil, with 1,406 detainees. Today, 294 of these people remain under arrest by the decision of the Federal Supreme Court.

In January, Datafolha measured 38% of people blaming Bolsonaro greatly for the episode and 17% acknowledging only a small parcel of blame. Those who have exempted him were the same 39%.
