Boeing Brasil - Commercial Is New Name of Embraer's Commercial Aviation
Company controlled by Americans wants BNDES help to develop airplanes
Boeing Brasil - Commercial is the name of the new company that Boeing, the giant American aerospace company, created after buying Embraer’s commercial aviation division.
Given that there are still doubts among executives of the new company over the acquisition’s impact on the market, The choice of name was conservative. There is also a fear of hurting the Brazilian political sensitivities. That is why the new name is Brasil with an “s” followed by “comercial” in English—commercial.
The American company cannot use the Embraer name, in order not to make confusion with the remaining Embraer company. Embraer still manages products in defense and security, as well as executive aviation.
Since the company’s formation was approved in January by the Brazilian government, the process to create the company has been accelerated.
One-hundred people are working in Brazil and the USA to carve out the commercial aviation out of the current Embraer company. Boeing International President Marc Allen has led this group since April 22. He spends part of the month in São José dos Campos, where Embraer has its headquarters and Boeing Brasil - Commercial will be located.
