Brazil Sees Skyrocketing Deaths as Social Isolation Loosens

Country is a rare exception in which social isolation loses strength before the fall of deaths from coronavirus

São Paulo

Brazil is rolling back social isolation even before it reduces the number of daily deaths by Covid-19.

Among the ten countries with the most deaths worldwide, only Brazilians and Mexicans are in this situation.

In the other eight nations on the list, activities are also being resumed, but only after reducing the disease's lethality.

As the third country with the most deaths, Brazil has been breaking daily records in the count.

Brazil has the highest number of deaths per 24 hours in the world - 1,473 on Thursday (4), or 28% of all records of the day on the planet. Even so, governors and mayors are deciding to ease the quarantine.

Brazil even registered 35% of the movement of a normal day. Currently, the rate is 53.5%. Argentina, with fewer deaths in absolute and proportional terms, reached a level of 9%.
