Rogério Caboclo Is Removed from The Presidency of CBF
Accused of sexual harassment, pressured and without political support, leader leaves office for 30 days
Rogério Caboclo was dismissed this Sunday (6) as the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation for 30 days. The entity's ethics committee made the decision.
He will have this time to defend itself from the accusation of moral and sexual harassment.
Antonio Carlos Nunes de Lima, Colonel Nunes, becomes the new president because he is the oldest deputy (82 years old). He held the position between February 2017 and April 2019.
This decision takes place after almost a week of attempts and requests from confederation directors and state federation presidents for Caboclo to step aside.
The arguments presented to Caboclo, as Folha learned, were that his departure, even if temporary, would drown out all the problems.
It would make the harassment accusation calm down in news, alleviate the discontent of the national team's and Tite's players, guarantee the hosting of the Copa America smoothly and meet the wish expressed by presidents of other national confederations, Conmebol and even FIFA representatives: take away you from the organization of the tournament.
