O grupo feminino country Dixie Chicks foi o grande vencedor da 49ª edição do Grammy nesta segunda-feira, ao conquistar os prêmios em três das principais categorias (melhor gravação, canção e álbum), além de melhor álbum de música country e melhor interpretação de um grupo do gênero.

o Red Hot Chili Peppers surpreendeu ao ganhar quatro prêmios (três nas categorias de rock e um pela edição especial de "Stadium Arcadium"). A grande favorita da festa, a cantora Mary J. Blige, indicada a oito prêmios, recebeu o Grammy de melhor álbum de R&B, melhor interpretação nesse estilo musical e melhor canção de R&B.
