A mais prestigiada premiação do teatro americano, o Tony Awards anunciou nesta terça (1º) os indicados para a premiação. 

 "Sponge Bob", espetáculo que dá vida ao famoso personagem da Nickelodeon, o "Bob Esponja", e "Mean Girls", musical baseado no filme adolescente "Meninas Malvadas" e no livro de Tina Fey lideram, com 12 nomeações cada, as indicações ao prêmios.  

Os 'revivals' como "Angels in America" e "Carousel", e, o novo musical "The Band's Visit" receberam 11 indicações. Além disso, outros destaques foram os espetáculos de “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” e o revival de “My Fair Lady” com dez indicações cada. 

A cerimônia de premiação será no dia 10 de junho e será apresentada pelos cantores Josh Groban e Sara Bareilles.
