O rapper americano Childish Gambino e a cantora country Kacey Musgraves foram os vencedores das categorias finais do Grammy 2019: melhor música e melhor álbum.
Gambino, nome artístico do ator e cantor Donald Glover, foi o vencedor na badalada categoria melhor música.
Mais cedo, em um primeiro momento constrangedor na cerimônia do Grammy 2019, “This Is America”, de Donald Glover, foi escolhida a música do ano, mas o cantor e ator Donald Glover, o Childish Gambino, não foi à cerimônia receber seu prêmio.
A ausência do cantor parece ter motivado manifestação de Alicia Keys, a apresentadora desta edição do prêmio.
“Childish? Childish?”, disse Keys ao sair do palco após apresentar a categoria e anunciar Glover como vencedor —“childish”, em inglês, significa infantil.
Outra grande surpresa da cerimônia foi o último prêmio a ser anunciado, de melhor álbum do ano, concedido à cantora country Kacey Musgraves —ela concorria com nomes fortíssimos, como Cardi B, Drake, Janelle Monáe e H.E.R.
O canadense Drake teve sua música "God's Plan" eleita a melhor música de rap do ano na 61ª cerimônia do Grammy.
O rapper surpreendeu ao aparecer no palco, contrariando a expectativa de que não estivesse presente.
“Quero usar a oportunidade para falar com todos os jovens que estão assistindo e querem trabalhar com música. Trabalhamos com algo baseado em opinião, não em fatos. Estamos em um momento em que as pessoas às vezes não entendem o que você quer dizer. O ponto é: se tem pessoas que saem para comprar um ingresso para seu show, você já é um vencedor.”
Miley Cyrus e Katy Perry apresentaram uma série de canções em homenagem a Dolly Parton, conhecida como “a rainha do country” e uma das homenageadas desta edição do Grammy —a própria Parton subiu ao palco de surpresa para se juntar às cantoras.
Na sequência, a cantora H.E.R. fez uma bela apresentação acompanhada de um coro de vozes.
Ela também venceu por melhor álbum de R&B. A jovem de 21 anos chamou familiares e equipe ao palco para receber o prêmio e protagonizou um dos momentos mais emocionantes da cerimônia. “Não me sinto bem em estar aqui recebendo esse prêmio sozinha”, disse a garota.
H.E.R. é o nome artístico de Gabriella Wilson, uma californiana que, aos 12 anos, competiu em um reality show musical para crianças tocando uma música de Alicia Keys, justamente a apresentadora desta edição do Grammy. Ela já havia vencido um Grammy neste ano por melhor performance de R&B.
Outra jovem premiada foi a cantora Cardi B, que levou o prêmio de melhor disco de rap.
A rapper ficou extremamente emocionada e demorou para conseguir agradecer pelo prêmio. “Acho que preciso fumar maconha”, disse, para gargalhadas do público. Ela agradeceu a toda a sua equipe e o marido pelo incentivo.
St. Vincent e Dua Lipa fizeram uma apresentação bonita e instigante, apesar de o entremeio entre as artistas tão distintas ter prejudicado a ambas —nem tão rock guitarreiro experimental, nem tão pop sensual de pista, mas, ainda assim, interessante.
Logo após deixar o palco, a britânica Dua Lipa foi anunciada a artista revelação de 2018. Este é um dos principais prêmios do Grammy, e a escolha parece ter pego todos de surpresa —ela concorria com nomes como a banda de hard rock Greta Van Fleet e a cantora H.E.R.

O Grammy 2019 começou com uma profusão de prêmios para Lady Gaga.
A cantora, que já havia vencido em duas categorias secundárias antes da cerimônia (melhor música para obra cinematográfica e melhor performance solo de pop), foi a primeira premiada a subir ao palco em Los Angeles.
Junto do ator Bradley Cooper, Gaga foi premiada na categoria melhor performance de duo ou grupo pop, pela canção “Shallow”, do filme “Nasce uma Estrela”.
Outro destaque dos instantes iniciais da premiação foi a aparição surpresa de Michelle Obama.
A ex-primeira-dama dos Estados Unidos foi chamada ao palco pela apresentadora Alicia Keys logo no começo da cerimônia.
“Vocês não pensaram que eu ia fazer isso sozinha, né?”, disse Keys antes de chamar ao palco Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith e Jennifer Lopez.
Obama foi recebida com uma ovação poderosa e precisou pedir a palavra à plateia entusiasmada. “Temos um show para apresentar aqui”, ela disse.
“Desde os discos da Motown que ouvia em Chicago até as canções poderosas que me inspiraram na última década, a música sempre ajudou a contar minha história, e sei que isso se aplica a todos aqui”.
Na sequência, Shawn Mendes fez apresentação da música "In My blood" com Miley Cyrus. Janelle Monáe também fez uma bela apresentação.
Entre os destaques das premiações pré-cerimônia, o cantor Chris Cornell recebeu um prêmio Grammy póstumo pela melhor performance de rock pela canção "When Bad Does Good”, lançada no ano passado, e a cantora Joy Villa, defensora de Trump, apareceu no tapete vermelho com um vestido imitando um muro, em referência à proposta do presidente de construir um muro em toda a fronteira dos EUA com o México.
Alicia Keys fez homenagem à aniversariante Roberta Flack, primeira a cantar “Killing me Softly”, sucesso na voz de Lauryn Hill com os Fugees.
