Bolsonaro Cabinet Wont Be Only Servicemen, Says PSL President

Gustavo Bebianno says the party won't open a dialogue with left-wing parties, who have "the most backward minds in the face of the Earth."

One of Jair Bolsonaro’s main allies, the interim president of political party Gustavo Bebianno, says that an eventual Bolsonaro cabinet won’t be made up by mostly military men

Bebianno, 54, says he is a liberal and he won’t open up a dialogue with left-wing parties such as PT, PSOL e PC do B because they represent "the most backward minds in the face of the Earth."

In Brasilia, there is a group of generals helping the campaign and building the government plan. What role will servicemen play in a possible Bolsonaro cabinet?

I’m sure that the choice for the Ministries won’t follow these criteria of who is in the military and who is not. I think that military people know a great deal about infrastructure, for example. By the nature of their military education, they can come up three, four, five different scenarios for each topic.

From that study group, we have General Oswaldo Ferreira, for instance, who I believe profoundly knows Brazil's hardships and the country's needs in infrastructure.

But the decision will be Jair's when the time comes. It won't be a cabinet composed mainly by military people. That was never on the table.

Your name has been circulating for Minister of Justice. What do you say about it?

There are rumors; I read something about it. There was no formal invite, I never asked for absolutely anything. I came into the campaign as a volunteer, but of course, it's nice to be considered for something. Who wouldn't like it? But there is no understanding about this, no.

Representative Onyx Lorenzoni (DEM-RS), already announced as Chief of Staff, recently acknowledged to receiving slush funds. Doesn't this cause discomfort to the campaign team?

I saw something at the time, and I remember him coming forward and very directly and publicly acknowledging this. He owned up to his mistake, paid the price, and the representative seems to be a good person. He made the right move. That is a tiny mistake comparing to what all his peers [did] and we are completely confident in him.
