The Brazilian Federal Police indicted businessman Abilio Diniz and former BRF CEO Pedro de Andrade Faria on Monday (15th) for crimes against public health, grand larceny, misrepresentation, and criminal organization.
The investigators used messages exchanged through the app Whatsapp and e-mails to indict the executives.
The indictment is included in a report from the third phase of Operation Weak Flesh, which investigates fraudulent lab results and fake data submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Abilio Diniz press representatives said, through a statement, that the police report doesn't show that the executive committed any wrongdoings.
Other 41 people were indicted, among them the president of ABPA (Brazilian Association of Animal Protein), Francisco Turra, who denies any involvement.
In the report, police agents say they have concluded that "the practice of criminal activities was not restricted to management and technical teams at BRF plants."
"It called our attention how active Pedro Faria (at the time, BRF global CEO), Abilio Diniz (at the time, BRF's president of the board), and José Carlos de Magalhães Neto (partner at Tarpon Investimentos) were in the case involving toxic residue (dioxin) in poultry detected by Chinese authorities," the report says.
