Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro, son of Jair Bolsonaro, said on Wednesday (28th) that the president-elect's death would benefit people "who are very close".
Without elaborating on the context or who he was referring to, the councilman posted his statement on Twitter. "Jair Bolsonaro's death benefits not only his declared enemies but also people very close to him. Especially after the inauguration!"
He continued: "It's easy to map a person who's transparent and willful. I always did my part, dutifully. Think about it and understand the daily plot!"
Carlos Bolsonaro, 35, was responsible for his father's social media during his Congress terms and at a certain point was considered to lead the new administration's Press Relations office.
During an event, Bolsonaro avoided addressing his son's remarks directly.
"My death benefits many people. The person who stabbed was physically very close to me. He was until recently registered to PSOL [a left-wing political party]. Someone tried to enter the House of Representatives using his ID. I think there is still much to be investigated."
