The police concluded the first investigation of the allegations against psychic John of God (João de Deus) and indicted him for the crime of rape by deception.

According to the police report, João de Deus molested a 40-year-old woman, under the pretense that she needed a private session. The abuse happened at Casa Dom Inácio de Loyola, in Abadiânia, a spiritual healing center where he performs "spiritual surgeries" on thousands of people every week.

"It's a sexual fraud. The victim went there searching for a cure. He took advantage of the situation, misled her and sexually abused her," said police chief Valdemir Pereira.
