Justice Alexandre de Moraes suspends tax investigations against justices

Brasília and São Paulo

On the first post-recess day, the Supreme Court responded to new revelations of the leaked car wash messages that show prosecutors collaborating with then-Judge Sergio Moro.

In an injunction, Justice Luiz Fux ordered that messages seized from the hacking suspects and asked for a copy of the material. Moro had earlier said the messages would be destroyed.

Already Alexandre de Moraes suspended tax investigations on Supreme Court justices. The decision responds to a report by Folha and Intercept Brasil showing that Deltan received information about Dias Toffoli from the tax agency.

Gilmar Mendes and Marco Aurélio Mello also criticized the prosecutors' conduct. Overall, the justices think that Car Wash operation was used as an instrument of intimidation.
