A Federal Police report suggests that Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court acted informally as a lawyer for a judge in the same period he was secretary of public security in São Paulo.

In a call from November 2015, Moraes talks to Judge Alexandre Victor de Carvalho, of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice, about his defense and details the lobby to be made with the then Supreme Ministers outside their offices.

Moraes' goal was to free the judge, on suspicion of illegality, from proceedings that could result in removal from office.

By law, the practice of law is incompatible with the heads of public agencies, and in case of breach of the rule, the opening of disciplinary proceedings in the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and criminal proceedings for irregular exercise of the profession.

Carvalho was stapled under Operation Abside, which investigates possible crimes and misconduct by judges of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice (the investigation is underway in the Superior Court of Justice.

The tapping indicated, in addition to corruption crimes, other alleged deviations committed by court members, such as exchanging favors with politicians.

In Carvalho's case, they pointed, for example, to the possible use of influence to employ relatives as ghosts in public office.

Folha sent questions to Moraes on Wednesday (11), through the press office of the Supreme. On Friday (13), he said he would not speak.
