Moro Is Most Trusted Political Leader in Brazil

Minister of Justice has more credibility than Lula and Bolsonaro; research evaluated 12 political figures

São Paulo

Brazilians trust Minister of Justice Sergio Moro the most among 12 political figures evaluated in a Datafolha survey. The survey tested names such as President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) and former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).

Datafolha asked respondents to say, on a scale from 0 to 10, how much confidence they had in each of the list members. Scores up to 5 are considered low confidence, from 6 to 8, medium, and 9 and 10, high. The index takes into account the grades given by those who claim to know the personality in question.

A third (33%) said they had high confidence in Moro, 23% medium confidence, and 42% low confidence.

Datafolha listened to 2,948 people in 176 municipalities in all regions of the country on December 5 and 6. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points, and the confidence index is 95%.

In the list of the most reliable, Lula comes next with 30% high confidence (16% average and 53% low). Despite tying within the margin of error with the former judge in the high confidence category, the PT politician appears second for having worse rates of medium and low reliability.

Then they are tied at the Bolsonaro margin of error with 22% (22% average and 55% low) and Luciano Huck with 21% (22% average and 55% low). The TV presenter is considered a possible presidential candidate in 2022.

The survey also shows that the credibility of Lula, who was falling, rose again. The 20% high reliability in February 2016 has now become 30%.

At the end of 2009, in his second term as President of the Republic, it was 52%.
