Bolsonaro Encourages March 15 Protest by Far-Right Groups

A protest scheduled for March 15 will Congress and defend the military

Brasília

Conservative activists, encouraged by parliamentarians and President Jair Bolsonaro himself, are preparing a protest against Congress and in defense of the military and the current government.

The demonstration, scheduled for March 15, is a reaction to the chief minister of the GSI (Institutional Security Office), general Augusto Heleno, who called the Congress "racketeers" last week.

The demonstration had been planned since the end of January, but it changed its focus to support Bolsonaro after Heleno attacked the Legislature.

Through social media and WhatsApp, supporters of the president posted images of attacks on Congress, withdrawal of commanders from the Chamber and Senate, and allusion to the use of the Armed Forces in the movement.

President Jair Bolsonaro himself sent friends a video that calls on the population to take to the streets on March 15 to defend him. The information was confirmed to Folha by former federal deputy Alberto Fraga (DF).

"I received a video, he [president] forwarded it to me. But he didn't make the video. I confess that I didn't understand it [as an incentive]. He has never made this kind of request. Those who are doing this are the Bolsonaro supporters on social media. To me, he didn't say anything at all, "said Fraga, who is a personal friend of the president.
