Jair Bolsonaro invited General Walter Souza Braga Netto, chief of the Army's General Staff, to become his Chief of Staff in place of the worn-out Onyx Lorenzoni, as Igor Gielow anticipated.
The proposal consolidates the resumption of the prestige of the military wing within the Plateau.
Bolsonaro's choice, however, created discomfort among members of the Army's High Command. They are concerned with what they consider excessive identification with the government. Braga Netto resisted the invitation. If he does not accept, the president's assistants said that another general would receive the offer.
The more technical profile of the military and the previous emptying of the Civil Office suggest that the portfolio will be less political.
If the appointment is confirmed, there will be, in theory, a contradiction, since the organ was traditionally occupied by a civilian, alongside the former Military House.
Onyx has been in the hot seat since his executive secretary lost his post due to the misuse of the FAB plane. He will likely take over the Ministry of Citizenship, today under Osmar Terra.
In Planalto's view, Terra did not bring any outstanding mark in his mandate. He will likely be nominated for an embassy.
