Brasília

President Jair Bolsonaro recently admitted in a private conversation that he sees Sergio Moro, ex-minister of Justice, as a potential "candidate" in the 2022 Presidential election.

In the dialogue, which was reported to Folha, Bolsonaro said he was sure that Moro has political pretensions and that he will be his opponent in the 2022 presidential election.

Therefore, Bolsonaro was afraid to nominate Moro for one of the two vacancies in the Supreme Court that will be open during his term.

Despite signaling the then minister that his name was a favorite, Bolsonaro told allied deputies that the former judge could use the post as an electoral podium.

More than once, the chief executive said to people close to him that Moro would take advantage of the prominent role to vote against Bolsonaro's interests, making a kind of public counterpoint to his future opponent.
