Moro Gives Deposition in Federal Police Investigation of Bolsonaro

Former minister gave deposition in an investigation of whether the president committed crimes

Brasília

Former Minister of Justice Sergio Moro gave a deposition to the Federal Police on his WhatsApp conversations with Jair Bolsonaro. Within these WhatsApp conversations, President Bolsonaro pressed for the departure of Maurício Valeixo as leader of the Federal Police.

In Saturday's testimony (2), Moro also talked about his conversations with federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PSL-SP), an ally of the President. In one message already shared by the former minister, the parliamentarian offers him an appointment to the Supreme Court to get him to stay in the government.

Moro said that other ministers attended his meetings with Bolsonaro.

After the deposition, the ex-minister had to wait for the Federal Police experts to access his cell phone. The device was copied on to a hard drive, and Moro allowed investigators to retrieve old messages deleted by him.

In the deposition, Moro maintained his allegations that Bolsonaro attempted to interfere in federal police investigations.

When exchanging messages via WhatsApp, the President asks the minister to change the PF command because of the fake news investigation targeting his son Carlos Bolsonaro.
