After meeting with President Jair Bolsonaro to discuss the creation of a committee to manage the fight against Covid-19, Congressional leader Arthur Lira (PP-AL), raised his tone against the government when speaking at the plenary. He said that if there is no course correction, the crisis could result in "bitter political remedies'' to be used by Congress, some fatal.
It is the first time that Lira has threatened the use of CPIs and impeachment against the President of the Republic, at a time when Bolsonaro tries to attract the Legislative and Judiciary to coordinate the pandemic.
The congressional leader spoke of the risk of a "spiral of errors of assessment," said that he was not "so-and-so" and that he addressed all those who lead agencies directly involved in fighting the pandemic.
Despite saying that it is not fair to place all the blame on Bolsonaro, he demanded a course correction, criticized the work of Minister Ernesto Araújo (Foreign Affairs) and spoke in an ultimatum tone.
