The summons of nine governors to testify at Covid's CPI [Commissions of Investigation] caused friction in the majority group of the Senate committee, which now wants to postpone or at least dilute the testimonies of state managers as much as possible.
Privately, the senators estimate that the list of governors will distort the current course of investigations and take the focus off President Jair Bolsonaro, benefiting the president.
Most members of the CPI are made up of independent or opposition senators - only 4 of the 11 members are government officials. The divergences regarding the summons were made explicit this Wednesday (26) in a word of mouth during the meeting in which the requirements were approved.
