Bolsonaro Admitted Hospital with Intestinal Obstruction

President complained of hiccups for 11 days, amid the crisis with Powers, Senate pandemic investigation and falling popularity

After suffering from abdominal pain at dawn on Wednesday (14), Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to the Armed Forces Hospital, and was later transferred to the Vila Nova Star hospital in São Paulo.

With a diagnosis of intestinal obstruction, he will undergo a “conservative clinical treatment,” with no surgery at the moment.

The president had been suffering from hiccups for 11 days and complained of fatigue. His transfer was decided by physician Antonio Macedo, who operated on him in 2018, when Bolsonaro was stabbed in the abdomen during the campaign.

Under pressure, president Bolsonaro moderated his pro-coup statements on Monday. He also agreed to participate in a meeting with the heads of the other Powers, but a meeting scheduled for this Wednesday was canceled due to the hospitalization.
