Investigation into Federal Police Director General Seeks to Expose Bolsonaro's Interference

Changes in the leadership of Amazonas and in the delegate who carried out an operation against Salles will be investigated

Brasília and São Paulo

An investigation into President Jair Bolsonaro's interference with the Federal Police—an accusation made by former minister Sergio Moro—will take a new direction.

Delegate Felipe Leal, responsible for the case, decided that he will investigate the current director general of the federal police, Paulo Gustavo Maiurino.

The investigation will follow closely the changes made to the leadership of Amazona after a delegate carried out an operation against the then head of the Environment Ministry, Ricardo Salles.

The investigation has been stalled since 2020, but it was resumed in July by order of the rapporteur, Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
