My Re-Election Doesn't Depend on Bolsonaro, Says House Leader

Lira defends an alliance with the Planalto and says that the excesses of the Judiciary warrant limits

Brasília

House leader, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), stated in an interview to Folha that the performance of President Jair Bolsonaro at the polls in 2022 does not affect his political project.

"President Bolsonaro's life is one. My life is another," said Lira, in defense of maintaining his alliance with the Planalto.

According to the deputy, the affiliation of Bolsonaro to the PL, of Valdemar Costa Neto, is defined and there is a possibility that the candidate for vice-president is a name of the PP.

Lira said there is no lack of harmony between him and Rodrigo Pacheco (DEM-MG), president of the Senate. But he criticizes his willingness to run for president.

"In my own view, I think one function interferes with the other."

For Lira, the decision of Justice Rosa Weber, of the Federal Supreme Court, to suspend the execution of the rapporteur's amendments "is not normal."

He defended the definition of limits and restraint in excesses in the Judiciary's performance.
