Organization that Manages Enem College Entrance Exam Suffers Mass Exit of Workers

Employees who resigned accuse Inep's president of moral harassment

Brasília

At least 33 employees of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research, an agency of the Ministry of Education that administers the National High School Exam), resigned this Monday (8), 13 days before the exam.

Employees cite the "technical and administrative weakness of the current administration" and accuse the institute's president, Danilo Dupas Ribeiro, of dismantling the body and practicing moral harassment.

In a statement, the institute says that Enem "will not be affected by the requests for dismissal". Inep officials, however, claim that the stampede makes the exam susceptible to failure.

The crisis on the eve of exams, which had received the lowest number of applicants of the decade (3.1 million) by the time the low-income student exemption was reversed, adds to a series under Jair Bolsonaro.

Dupas Ribeiro was appointed at the end of February by Milton Ribeiro, the third in charge of Education in the current government.

More discreet than his predecessor, Abraham Weintraub, the current minister is also accused of undermining the ministry's performance, especially with schools closed in the pandemic.

The Education Committee of the Chamber must hear Dupas Ribeiro about the situation of the body.
