Army Generals Avert Vaccine Crisis and Try to Isolate Bolsonaro

Document with guidelines on immunization is bureaucratic and needs no explanations, in the view of military personnel from the High Command

Brasília

Generals who are part of the Army High Command averted a vaccine crisis that would have been caused by basic guidelines for the Covid pandemic. They are now shielding the commander-general, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira de Oliveira, from the hoopla and trying to isolate Jair Bolsonaro.

Army leadership thought the president's discomfort with the vaccination rules on returning to work in person did not provoke a mini-crisis between the military and the government.

These officers claim that the document produced by Oliveira was a bureaucratic piece, with no reason for a new chapter of shudder between Bolsonaro and the army command.

The document establishes guidelines favorable to vaccination, use of masks, social distancing and sharing correct information in the current phase of the pandemic.

Bolsonaro is a denialist in relation to the four items.

The idea ended up being aborted due to the realization that a clarification was not necessary. A note would fuel a crisis that, in the view of the High Command generals, did not and should not exist.
