Bolsonaro's Hospitalization Mobilizes Allies and Brings Back Memories of Stab Wound

After embarrassment on vacation, supporters highlight the 2018 episode and ask for prayers

The recent hospitalization of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) due to an intestinal obstruction mobilized his allies. On social media, they highlighted the stab suffered in 2018 and asked for a "prayer chain" for the president. Bolsonaro fell sick after lunch on Sunday (2) and was admitted at dawn this Monday (3) at the Vila Nova Star hospital, in São Paulo. This Monday night (3), the hospital said that the president showed clinical improvement and he was without fever or abdominal pain. He also took a short walk down the hospital corridor. It is still uncertain if he will have surgery or when he will be released.

Bolsonaro's doctor, Antônio Luiz Macedo, was on vacation in the Bahamas and will return to Brazil this Monday to see the president. Based on the reports and results of exams he has received, Macedo told Folha that "surgery will probably not be necessary." Several ministers and Bolsonaro allies posted messages on social media after his hospitalization. Some pointed out that it is a consequence of the knife attack carried out by Adélio Bispo de Oliveira against Bolsonaro in the presidential campaign.
