Pro-Gun Group Operates within Senators' Cabinets

Proarmas has been working on laws that benefit collectors, in addition to offering support to candidates

Proarmas, the largest arms group in the country, has been active in the National Congress, writing proposals and even working from politicians' offices.

Senator Jorginho Mello (PL-SC) said, in a video recorded during the Proarmas national convention, that the group's president, Marcos Pollon, works from his office.

"He [Pollon] is a senator. When I'm not in the cabinet, he takes over. He goes there, and he makes amendments. He, in a very affectionate way, he's dedicated, and passionate about what he does... So he doesn't need to say much that we are partners, he is the boss of me. And his agenda is my agenda," said the senator.

Senator Mello said this at the end of March, in Brasília, at the event that introduced the more than 50 pre-candidates supported by the arms movement for the October elections. In common, all the pre-candidates endorsed by Proarmas are in favor of the reelection of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Senator Marcos Rogério (PL-RO) also said, at the same event, that Pollon uses his office. He is a pre-candidate for the government of Rondônia with the support of the pro-arms group.
