The electronic voting system was praised and cheered at the inauguration of justice Alexandre de Moraes as president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), on Tuesday night (16).
The long applause after an excerpt from Moraes’ speech took place in front of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who often attacks electronic ballot boxes and insinuates that the court intends to rig this year’s elections in order to defeat him.
Moraes delivered a speech with several messages to the Chief Executive, who participated in the ceremony and came face to face with former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), a rival in this year's dispute.
The minister praised the fact that the TSE is able to release the results of the elections on the same day voters go to the electoral colleges due to electronic ballot boxes and was roundly applauded by the audience in attendance, including the main authorities of the Three Powers.
