Bolsonaro Said 'It's Over', Says Justice after Meeting with President at Supreme Court

President talks to Supreme Court justices after making his first speech since his defeat at the election

Brasília

Justice Edson Fachin, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), said that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) used the expression "it's over" in a meeting with court ministers.

Fachin responded when asked if, at the meeting, Bolsonaro had acknowledged his defeat to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). "[He] used the verb 'end' in the past tense. He said 'it ended'. Therefore, look forward."

Bolsonaro's meeting with Federal Supreme Court justices took place this Tuesday afternoon (1st) after the president made his first statement after the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the elections.

The current president has kept silent for about 45 hours since Sunday night (30) when the result was confirmed by the TSE (Supreme Electoral Court).

In the Supreme Federal Court, the president did not speak to journalists on his way in and out of the meeting, which took place in the office of Chief Justice Rosa Weber.

In private reports, the justices highlighted that they had never had such a peaceful meeting with Bolsonaro before. According to them, the president was friendly and polite and repeated that he does not intend to disrespect the Constitution. Also according to reports, Bolsonaro did not address the investigations he currently faces in the Supreme Court at the meeting, which are under the report of Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

People present at the meeting told Folha that Bolsonaro made a defense of his government to the justices. He said he did the best he could and mentioned difficulties in the economy.
